It was a "B"usy Day today at Little Wildcats Preschool. In the morning Teacher Tessa read us the book Owl Babies. We then were busy practicing writing our Letter B's in our alphabet notebook. During large group time we caught balloon butterflies as they fluttered down from the balcony. Our snack today consisted of Cheddar Bunnies and Butterflies (made with oranges and blueberries). For art we made butterflies and Teacher Katerina talked about how butterflies have symmetry (she explained this big word to the kids that both sides look the same). The preschoolers were able to paint one side of their butterfly, fold it in half, and then look at the symmetry that occurred. I heard so many of them shout out, "This is magic!".
Welcome back to school...spring preschool is now in session!! Our focus this semester will be on kindergarten readiness skills and the alphabet. Each day we will focus on a different letter of the alphabet. The art project, large group activity, snack, literacy reading and small group will all pertain the letter of the day. During circle time we will also learn the sign language alphabet; we hope to show you this at our preschool graduation.
Today we focused on the letter A. In art we made ourselves as astronauts. These will soon hang out on the bulletin boards as you enter the school. As part of my advanced students lesson planning process, not only do they assist in developing the educational activities, then implement them, but they also create a bulletin board display of the children's art work. These displays will change quite frequently and I will also post them to this website so parents who do not do drop off or pick up are able to see them.
